Ferry Services maintains a supply line to the outer harbour islands on a
regular basis - see timetable. You
can book a trip aboard the ferry by ringing 07 4972 6990. Cruise
Gladstone's harbour, stay the day on the island and catch the ferry back
to the mainland in the afternoon - a great break from routine !!
The island
destinations are the South End of Curtis Island and Farmer's Point on
Facing Island. Both destinations have settlements, long sandy beaches
and designated camping areas. Pack up the camping gear or take the 4WD
for an island stay. South End has a licensed General Store where
provisions may be purchased.
Swimming,
surfing and fishing are popular recreational pastimes on these outer
islands. A wonderful getaway from the mainland to enjoy coastal scenery
and experience the undeveloped beauty of natural bushland and
coastline.
